Introduction of buzzer:
A passive buzzer lacks an internal oscillator. When powered, the internal oscillator doesn’t produce a humming sound. It requires a 2-5 kHz square wave driver. Waveforms of varying frequencies then drive the buzzer to produce a corresponding humming frequency.
The differences between active and passive buzzers are as follows:
1. Active buzzers have internal oscillator and driver circuitry. They sound when powered on. Passive buzzers have controllable frequency, allowing them to create a “dora-re-mi-fa-sol-si” effect. In some cases, they can share a control port with an LED.
2. To test for sound differences, connect the black test lead to the “+” pin of the buzzer and the red test lead back and forth on the other pin. If a clicking sound is heard and the resistance is only 8Ω, it’s a passive buzzer. If a continuous tone is heard and the resistance is over several hundred ohms, it’s an active buzzer.
3. For different vibration frequencies, use DC voltage to input the corresponding voltage (which can be adjusted from small to large). The frequency is about 2.7KHZ. The one that can sound directly is an active electromagnetic buzzer. The one that does not sound directly and needs square wave to drive it is a passive electromagnetic buzzer.
