TCS3200 Color Recognition Detection Sensor Module
The TCS3200 sensor mdule utilizes an 8-pin SOIC surface-mount package and integrates 64 photodiodes on a single chip. These diodes are divided into four types: 16 photodiodes with red filters, 16 with green filters, 16 with blue filters, and the remaining 16 without filters, allowing full transmission of light. These photodiodes are arranged in a staggered pattern within the chip, minimizing unevenness in incident light radiation and improving color recognition accuracy.

Furthermore, the 16 photodiodes of the same color are connected in parallel, evenly distributed across the diode array, eliminating color position errors. During operation, two programmable pins dynamically select the desired filter. The sensor’s typical output frequency range is from 2 Hz to 500 kHz.
Two programmable pins can also be used to select an output scaling factor of 20% or 2%, or a power-down mode. The output scaling factor adapts the sensor’s output to different measurement ranges, enhancing its adaptability. For example, when using a low-speed frequency counter, you can select a small calibration value to match the TCS230’s output frequency to the counter’s.
