Introducation of this Rotary Potentiometer Module

Rotary potentiometers are essentially variable resistors. They get the name “potentiometer” because their core circuit function is to produce an output voltage that has a defined proportional relationship with the applied input voltage.
As illustrated in the schematic diagram, standard potentiometers (trimmer resistors included for reference) commonly come with three pins (the 3-pin configuration is cited here as a typical example). The resistance across the two outermost pins is fixed, whereas the resistance between the middle wiper pin and either outer pin is adjustable.
These components are normally engineered to preserve their original performance characteristics throughout long-term operation. When used for position sensing, potentiometers serve as either linear or rotary position transducers.
The output voltage of a potentiometer is directly proportional to the positional displacement of its sliding wiper along the variable resistive element.
However, resistance drift induced by temperature fluctuations, mechanical abrasion, and contaminants accumulating between the wiper and resistor track will alter resistance values and impair the potentiometer’s measurement precision.
